Himalayan Balsam
You may not be aware but Himalayan Balsam is an invasive species of plant which grows along water courses.
Unfortunately, it's taken root in The Meadows. As it's an offence to let it spread, the Peak District National Park Authority is working with landowners to remove Himalayan Balsam at sites across the Peak Park and Stoney Middleton is on their list.
However, if you are walking in the The Meadows by the brook/stream please feel free to help by pulling it up (apparently it pulls out easily) to try to stop this species reaching the village.
If you are not sure what Himalayan Balsam looks like, please have a look at the picture.
