Boot and Shoe makers strike; On-line talk

Please see a message below from Steve Bond on an on-line Boot and Shoe makers strike talk.

Dear Stoney Middleton Friends

I'm doing an on-line illustrated talk about the strike on Wednesday July 1st at 2pm.

I was due to give this talk at the Working Class Movement Library in Salford, where they were also planning to show our exhibition. Because of COVID 19, they are now doing all their talks on line.

The talks are open to the general public. So if you'd like to take part, or if you know anyone who might be interested, you can click on this link on July 1st and follow the instructions given. It would be lovely if some Stoney people could take part, as this is a chance to tell the story to a wider audience.

We still have the plaque to install as well. Again, because of the virus and associated restrictions we've not been able to organise a ceremony as yet. I was hoping we could do it during well dressing week, but as that isnt possible we'll have to wait until a more suitable time. Any ideas or suggestions very welcome!!

Best wishes to everyone
