Supporting Severn Trent with `Saving Water’ messages

Dear Town/Parish Council,

You will most likely be aware of the loss of treated water supplies and low water pressure that has affected some pockets of Derbyshire during the recent spell of hot weather – mainly affecting parts of the Derbyshire Dales and Amber Valley.

The Local Resilience Forum, coordinated by the Council’s Emergency Planning Team, has been working closely with Severn Trent and other agencies including the police, health and fire & rescue service to manage the high demand for water.

The County Council and other agencies are helping to spread the message that water companies have seen exceptional demand for water, and with the hot weather set to continue, they expect demand to stay high.

With that in mind, the County Council is asking staff, residents, businesses and other local councils to prioritise their water use and to use the supplies available for essential activities only.

The County Council has been sharing Severn Trent’s ‘use water wisely’ messages via its social media channels, and if you have these channels available to you, it would be useful if your council could do the same thing.

If you have any queries about this, or would like further information, please contact Geoff Pickford (Service Director – Highways), Economy, Transport and Environment Department on 01629 538194.

Kind regards,

Mandy Cann.
