Another Fell Racing Record for Baslow Runner Stuart Bond1.34.00pm GMT Tue 3rd Aug 2010 This year the weather was kind and many competitors commented that the excellent conditions should be ideal for some good times. This proved to be the case with Dark Peak Fell Runner, Stuart Bond breaking the record he set up last year with a winning time of 30.44 nearly a minute faster. A 152 competitors registered for this 5.2 mile race which climbs 650ft and starts with a long run up the 1 in 5 Stoney Middleton High Street Baslow runner, Stuart Bond was almost 2 minutes ahead of 2nd place Thomas Wild from Macclesfield Harriers. The vets trophy was won by Goyt Valley Strider's runner Andy Pead. Karen Davidson, also of Dark Peak Fell Runners, beat last years record by over a minute to set a new ladies record of 36 minutes 55 seconds. Dark Peak Fell Runners came first in a total of six sections. Phil Baker was the first Local home in 39.04 minutes and Anna Ford the first local in the women's class. Kevin Bite of Stoney Middleton won the Junior section. Bryan Rogers of Northern Vets was our most senior competitor at 77 years of age. The trophies were presented at the Moon Inn with a barbeque organised by the Well Dressing Committee as popular as ever with a good mix of competitors and locals. As part of the Village Well Dressing the fell race always manages to be a good night. Thanks to all competitors, marshals, timekeepers and residents of the village for their support and assistance.
