After a wet and blustery afternoon, the skies cleared for the start of the Stoney Middleton Fell Race held on the Thursday of Well Dressing week race.

A record 170 competitors registered for this race which starts with a long uphill run up the 1 in 5 Stoney Middleton High Street

In a strong field, Baslow runner, Stuart Bond finished in a new record time of 31 minutes 41 seconds,over a minute ahead of 2nd place Lloyd Taggart. The vets trophy was won by Staffordshire Moorlands runner Stephen Pyke.
Ladies Winner - Christine Howard of Matlock AC in a record time of 37.57minutes

Christine Howard of Matlock AC set a new ladies record of 37 minutes 57 seconds.
At 75 years of age Frank Makin of Holme Pierrepont RC, our oldest competitor, finished in a time of 52 minutes 06 seconds. Wow!!
The trophies were presented at the Moon Inn with a barbeque organised by the Well Dressing Committee.
The fell race is part of a week long celebration of that peculiar Derbyshire custom, Well Dressings .We are always pleased to welcome visitors either to take part in the race or just to look at the Well Dressings.
