Stoney Middleton Parish Council celebrate the success of the village campaign to keep the School open
|
The Stoney Middleton School Action committee issued the following statement this evening.
"The Schools Adjudicator has decided that our school will remain open.
The adjudicator recognised the strength of feeling in the village about our school and was also staggered that the Local Authority had deemed the A623 to be not hazardous!
Thanks to you all for your determination, support and letter writing throughout our campaign.
Please come along to the Playing Field at 1.00 pm (Tuesday 15th May) to celebrate (Calander News; Matlock Mercury and reporters from other Local newspapers and the BBC will be there)."
The school is decorated with balloons but our pupils are taking their SATS examines on Tuesday so we would appreciate it if reporters and supporters
would go directly to the playing field on the A623 between Calver Crossroads and Stoney Middleton so as to avoid disruption and so that we get the best possible results!!
Good Luck to all the pupils taking SATS in Stoney and other threatened Derbyshire Schools!!!
We will post more information as soon as it is available.
