GREAT NEWS!11.51.06am GMT Fri 9th Mar 2007 Derbyshire County Council School Organisation Committee last night voted two for retaining the school - governors from other schools and the Church of England, and two against, the councillors and the Catholic Church. We live to fight again in front of the Schools Adjudicator, a government appointed body, who will be called in to review the whole situation and give a final verdict later in the spring. The action committee led by Richard Jones and Chairman of Governors Peter Hobson provided a magnificent presentation which covered all the issues from quality of education, projected school numbers, finance, the effect on the village community and last but not least the dangerous road. Over 60 governors, parents, councillors and friends attended the meeting which lasted well over three hours. There were major contributions from Jennifer Bettney, Chair of the Parish Council and Michael Miller read out Sophie's plea after which there was not a dry eye in the room. The presentation finished with a video of the children in school which showed how happy and well integrated Stoney pupils are. Well done to the children and Mr Horrod.!!
