I'm Very Angry

How dare Councillor Charles say that parents don't have the right to choose where their children go to school. It's because of the right to choose your own children's school that we are in this mess!!! Once upon a time your child went to the school that he or she lived nearest to, but some government in their infinite long term wisdom decided to allow parents to choose the schools that their children should go to, now all of a sudden we don't have that right because somebody again has decided that Stoney Middleton School is too small and too expensive to run!!!

Does Councillor Charles live in the real world? I don't think so. If he did he would realize that the simple life he thinks that we live in simply does not exist. There are those of us that might not want to rely on other people to ferry our kids to school. It's not always possible. What happens if your lifts child is ill? Are they going to leave their own child at home alone while they take someone else's child to school? I don't think so.

My child will not be going to Curbar School or Eyam School. The 45 min walk would mean that in order for her to get to school for 8.45 am I would have to leave home at 8am. I start work at 9am in Bakewell. There isn't a bus that would get me there until after 10am. Is Councillor Charles going to provide free transport for me or shall I just become another unemployed statistic.

Isn't the road we are talking about that goes to Chapel the same one that goes to Curbar? Do the lorries and cars fly over Stoney Middleton? Is there a bypass we don't know about? Where is it?

And finally where on earth is there a room we can hire in Stoney

Middleton for village events? All I can say is get real Councillor Charles and everyone else who has made this ludicrous decision.

We want our children to go to Stoney Middleton School. We don't want the school building to be sold and made into apartments or houses. WE LIKE IT HERE!!!

Now where is that bypass?
