Heartfelt messages from school pupils

Every Child Counts

Take It To County Hall - The pupils of Stoney Middleton Primary School echo the education motto of the government as they prepare to deliver personal letters of petition to County Hall in Matlock against the proposed closure of the school.

PUPILS from Stoney Middleton Primary have hand delivered heartfelt messages to education authority bosses who are proposing to close their school.

Children enclosed their photographs along with their letters, delivered yesterday before the consultation period on the school closure plans came to an end.

Derbyshire County Council is looking to shut the school due to low pupil numbers.

Acting headteacher at Stoney Middleton, Sue Fitzpatrick, said: "We are still battling very hard.

"We're in such limbo at the moment - we don't know if we have a future here."

The school sent thanks to Hulley's Coaches who volunteered to take the children to County Hall on Wednesday afternoon free of charge.
